Dr. Melinda Mushonga is a Radiation Oncologist at Kingston General Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at Queen’s University. She completed her undergraduate medical degree and specialty training in Clinical Oncology at the University of Zimbabwe, followed by a Radiation Oncology Clinical Fellowship at the University of Toronto.
Her clinical areas of interest include gynecological malignancies, lung cancer, breast cancer, palliative radiotherapy, and central nervous system (CNS) malignancies. A key career goal is to advance radiation oncology in transitioning centers by introducing and strengthening advanced radiation techniques, including image-guided brachytherapy for gynecological cancers.
Dr. Mushonga’s research interests, grounded in the field of global oncology, include clinical outcomes research focused on access to relevant and culturally appropriate, practice-relevant, evidence-based cancer care. She is also involved in collaborative clinical trials and is committed to strengthening bidirectional education and training in radiation oncology between low- and high-income settings.
